12 years in the making

Rock Paper Store is a small family business 12 years in the making.

The idea for the patented material we call Rock Paper started in 2008 but had a different name.

Mary(our scientist and patent holder) worked tirelessly for the next 10 years developing and tweaking the formulation originally designed for other product brands. I’d tell you what they were but that’s top secret 🤫

However, at the end of 2017 a new idea for the use of this awesome material was born!

That’s where I come in.

Hi! My name is Molly, I’m one of the founders of Rock Paper Store. I’m also Mary’s daughter, I’m an artist by trade and I’m usually the one you communicate with.

Before Rock Paper I had worked 10 years as a wedding photographer. So naturally I approached the different ways Rock Paper could be used in weddings.Like favor boxes or invitations or as waterproof flowers.

So, because I was already a regular at the local wedding convention I packed up the prototypes we created and introduced Rock Paper Store to the local Brides to be. This was July of 2018.

After a couple wedding shows and the closing of my photography business I decided to dedicate myself to building Rock Paper Store.

Mary showed me how everything worked and I got started. I used special techniques, and a little trial and error to mix colors and create the interesting combinations you see on every sheet.

Once I learned the process and how unique the colors could be the idea to use this paper as Artist Paper came to me. It was a real “ah ha” moment.

That’s when we tabled the other product lines and focused on what you see today.

We started with a market research campaign to test the waters and generate data on how well our new paper would be received. We were shocked and delighted at the highly positive response. That gave us the motivation to continue and build our little business.

We are three years in and still developing new ways to offer our fun paper to you. We are so impressed with the beautiful and creative ways everyone uses Rock Paper. Please continue to share your work with us, we love to see it!!
